Fly-in Option
Explore the world-famous limestone cathedrals of the Menabe region. From the endemic Fosa in Kirindy to the breathtaking suspension bridges of the Great Tsingy.
We are heading towards Morondava, this exceptional crossroads for exploring the many sites and attractions of the West. This place is particularly renowned for its baobabs, of which there are seven varieties in Madagascar: one for all of Africa and two for Australia. Now, the famous Avenue of the Baobabs is better preserved thanks to the recent creation of a protected area as part of our program. The sacred baobab has a very distinctive shape. This feat of nature, with its intertwined trunks, is simply incredible…
We chose one of Menabe's magnificent forests: Kirindy Forest, 50 km north of Morondava, with its endemic baobabs, precious timber, and other forest resources. It is also home to numerous mammals, reptiles, and rodents. We hope we'll have the chance to spot the giant jumping rat, "Vositse," a protected species! To raise awareness about this species, a "Vositse Marathon" is regularly organized in the region. The race starts at the entrance to Kirindy Forest and passes through the Andranomena Special Reserve and the iconic Avenue of the Baobabs.
This small village, nestled on the banks of the Manambolo River, is considered the gateway to the Tsingy. This sometimes results in a striking contrast between the houses nestled in the vegetation and the constant stream of 4x4s, or between the tranquility of the villagers and the bustle of tourists preparing for their visit…
We will have a choice of several types of excursions (depending on their level of difficulty), for example: from the introductory "Tantely" excursion to the thrilling "Andamozavaky" excursion with its suspension bridge over the void! The Tsingy de Bemaraha, sculpted by the elements over millions of years, undoubtedly offer the most spectacular landscape in Madagascar. A unique, otherworldly environment, yet home to a dry forest where 13 species of lemurs, 22 of amphibians, 66 of reptiles, and 94 of birds have been recorded.
Return to Morondava, and DAY – 6 by plane to Antananarivo or Toliary.
