Antananarivo Arrival
It is common knowledge that a reader is distracted by the readable content of a page when examining its layout. Antananarivo - Andasibe
At kilometer 60, the turnoff to Mantasoa coincides with the village of Ambatolaona, a renowned historical and tourist site. We continue along the main road to the top of the Mandraka Gorge. Here, the ancient forest of the Highlands and the eastern rainforest meet. The winding road plunges into a breathtaking landscape. At kilometer 115, Moramanga is both a road junction and a historic town in the struggle for independence. Andasibe is 30 km away. We check into the Feon Ala Hotel, nestled in the heart of the forest.
Andasibe National Park - Toamasina
Visit a well-maintained national park, with its network of hiking trails, interpretation center, and picnic areas. Its fauna includes large chameleons, birds, and lemurs (the largest of which is the indri, easily recognizable by its impressive calls), while its vegetation comprises all the elements of a tropical rainforest (epiphytic orchids, ferns, lichens, sacred lianas, etc.). Continue to Toamasina in the early afternoon.
Toamasina - Mahambo
Traveler's trees (Ravinala) are increasingly common, and the local population is making greater use of the vegetation. A scenic drive passes through Antsapanana at kilometer 216, a picturesque village where dried bananas wrapped in their leaves and other tropical fruits are displayed on both sides of the main road. In the early evening, arrival in Toamasina and overnight stay in a hotel chosen by the client.
Mahambo - Sainte Marie
On the road to Mahambo, a stop in Foulpointe, a popular seaside resort for Toamasina residents with its turquoise lagoon, is highly recommended! Mahambo is located 95 km north of Toamasina. This typical Betsimisaraka village is nestled at the end of a bay bordered by lush vegetation. Swimming, pirogue excursions, and walks in the forest: this is the program for an idyllic stay in Mahambo. Overnight stay at a guesthouse, the Récif Hotel, or aboard a pirogue, then an early departure for Soanierana Ivongo, the home port for the speedboats to Sainte-Marie.
